OTC Remedies Everyone Should Have in Their Medicine Cabinet

It is not always practical to call paramedics because of a diarrhea or a flu that is persistent. It makes sense to try to help yourself through the use of items you can find at your local pharmacy. Five OTC remedies everyone should have in their medicine cabinet include:

Aspirin, Anacin or Bufferin

These drugs are best for pain relieving and are also known to reduce inflammation (Anacin).  More so, they are good for fever reduction. One of their side effects is aspirin products may cause stomach irritation. Much like the doctors of yesterday recommended, aspirin can help many minor ailments including headaches.

Claritin, Zyrtec or Benadryl

Allergies can be dealt with using these medicines. Now that they are sold over the counter, it is good in case any one comes into contact with something they are allergic to. Benadryl will work well for all types of allergies. (Food, animal, among others are all combated with Benadryl.)

Polysporin or Neosporin

They are well known antibiotic ointments in case of cuts and scrapes. With all the things that take place in the kitchen, it is only likely to get cuts. Cleaning wounds with alcohol or commonly used hydrogen peroxide is just not enough and these ointments would be good, especially if you get hurt on-the-go.

Mucinex

Most of the cold and cough drugs take a long time to work. Mucinex will help decongest the chest through enabling the removal of sputum from your chest. Mucinex is a good drug for all and is a must have item for the medicine cabinet to combat colds and other common disorders.

Immodium (Loperamide)

Immodium is the best diarrhea option. Food poisoning is a very common occurrence and therefore, this is a must have in medicine cabinets. Children get food poisoning frequently and Immodium is a good solution for that. Eating the wrong foods can cause serious discomfort and trips to the bathroom. You need to have relief in your medicine cabinet.
